Realme and Poco already made an official announcement stating the exclusion of banned Chinese apps through future OTA updates. Now, Xiaomi took to Twitter to reveal that it is working on a new version of MIUI that will be free of any of the banned Chinese apps. Xiaomi preloads a suite of apps meant for music and video playback, security, web browsing, and its Mi Community and Mi Store apps. Earlier, the Mi Browser and Mi Community app faced allegations for collecting user data, but the company has refuted all the allegations. Xiaomi claimed that it has been following data localization policies for the past two years. Xiaomi has also clarified the ‘Clean Master’ branding in the Cleaner app in MIUI. The company says it is a “common industry name used by many app developers” and that MIUI uses its own Cleaner app. At last, Xiaomi mentioned, data from Indian users is stored on servers located in India, and none of this data is shared with anyone outside of the country.
